Public Notice: Annual Fire Safety Herbicide Use Along Coos Bay Rail Line - May 2024
The Coos Bay Rail Line (CBRL) will begin its annual herbicide spraying this week. This essential activity is conducted in accordance with fire prevention plans mandated by Coos, Douglas and Lane County. The objective is to maintain a fire safe corridor along the railway, helping ensure the safety of the community.
Commencing on May 13th in Coquille, the CBRL has initiated the herbicide use along the rail line and anticipates completing the task within the next 10-14 days as the work progresses towards Eugene. Prior to this operation, extensive preparatory work took place including mowing and debris removal along the right of way to facilitate the process.
The herbicide spraying is undertaken with utmost care and consideration for environmental factors. The teams do not spray over water bodies, and meticulous attention is paid to weather conditions before proceeding with the spraying operation.
